Wow, it's been more than 2 months since my last blog!

This morning's dialogue:

Curt (talking to one of our cats): "hey barracuda..."
Me (listening from another room): "What? Madame Buddha?"
Curt: "What? Madame Gouda?"
Me: "ha ha, Madame Gouda! Yes."

She's big cheese...

Welcome to the K-Nine Spa, where you'll receive an exfoliating face message (licking) and ear therapy (nibble) by our conscientious attendant, British Bull Mastiff - Billy. Following your facial, you'll be promptly growled, or lowly and deeply barked at until the ever so friendly proprietor, Tony, tells Billy the Brit to "shut up!"

Candles, incense and jazz music play in the background of this holistic and relaxing environment. There are ample couches for you to "chill out" on. Come visit this West Yorkshire oasis.

Billy is waiting...

Went to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) two weeks ago - that was childhood tradition. I'd go there at least two or three times a year when I was young. Now, I'm lucky if I make it there once. I think I missed it last year. It still creates a thrill, but not the same way it did when I was 13!

The main attraction for me is the agricultural section. This little guy was only one day old! He was tiny and HUNGRY! hee hee

These ones were a couple weeks old. Very energetic and playful. I'm thinking of having a couple kids of my own some day ; P
Too bad we can't have them in the city to maintain our lawns! We'd save gas and electricity. Baaaaa!

I've been volunteering for Earth Rangers for over a month now (once a week) as an Animal Care attendant and it's been great. I was able to work in the songbirds room this past week and it was a real treat - I got to feed the baby birdies!

I fed (with a syringe) young American Robins, a baby Northern Cardinal, a young BlueJay and some baby Cedar Waxwings. They are so awesome!

I just love this site - stuff on my cat
Too cute. I think I want the calendar for 2007.

Bored of going to the opera? Have you already gone to the museum 100 times? Then take a trip to Stanton, Iowa to see their Water Tower Coffee Pot. Or visit a shoe tree in Nevada. All this and more can be researched at roadsideamerica. Let the fun begin!

Guess who this is?

That's right, it's Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys! I got this from Queen of Tarts. I love that place. Yummy treats and great cookies - yum yum!

Bubbles is my favourite. Take the Bubbles quiz!

Look what I made! Okay, I finished it about two weeks ago and have been lazy about writing, but those lazy, hazy, crazy daze got me.

I took a six week silversmith workshop and it was awesome! I made this ring and these earrings. I plan to take others as well. : )

Last night we watched Dave Chappelle's Block Party. It was great. Chappelle is hilarous. Erykah Badu and The Roots perform, not to mention Lauryn Hill with The Fugees. Cool : )

Isn't this a sweet little car? It's a 1973 BMW 2002. It's one of my favourite cars - a classic too. Okay, back to reality.
Check out this video of the young Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. It looks like such a tiny nest. Must be a tight squeeze for those little guys or girls or both : )

"This is the best thing to wear for today, you understand. Because I don't like women in skirts and the best thing is to wear pantyhose or some pants under a short skirt, I think. Then you have the pants under the skirt and then you can pull the stockings up over the pants underneath the skirt. And you can always take off the skirt and use it as a cape. So I think this is the best costume for today."

- Edith 'Little Edie' Bouvier Beale

I watched Grey Gardens for the third time last night. It's such an intriguing voyage. This is a film I could never get bored of, in fact I'm addicted to it. It's a 1976 documentary by Albert and David Maysles about an eccentric mother (Big Edie) and her daughter (Little Edie) who live in a dilapidated 28-room mansion in East Hampton. Watching it will take you through a whole gamut of emotions. What is it about this film that makes one obsessed with it? The Maysles open the door to the life of this offbeat pair and this makes me want to jump in and find all the missing links to understand the situation. How can someone go from being a débutante to a recluse in a "should be" condemned house? I guess it can be a slippery slope.

We went to see Calexico last night and they were awesome! Unfortunately, being the seniors that we are and it also being a school night, we didn't stay till the very end. Argh! Being an adult kinda sucks, until you realize that you can get away with having a bag of potato chips for dinner without anyone nagging you - okay, except your inner voice that knows that potato chips aren't a "wholesome" supper.

Check out the cute, roly-poly squirrel on Cute Overload today! What a cutie!

Sergeant M reporting for duty, Sir. The house has maintained its normal functions and the humans are responding as anticipated. I will continue my role as "feline" until further notice.

No Sir, Private Purr is still AWOL. She has not reported for duty in 2 days. Last time I saw her she was beached on the galley floor waiting for treats or something. I will continue my search.
I had my silversmith class last night and I'm almost finished my ring - hooray! I'm so excited about it.
I will post a picture of it when I have it. : )

beached cat

I just had to post this pic. What a sausage! This is my kitty. Without having to tell you, you've already figured out that she likes to eat. This is her laying by her food dish in the kitchen (her favourite spot.)

Check out the "retro" flooring.

Just came back from a walk around Humber Bay Park and we saw a beaver there. It was big! Chomping away on some reeds or something. We tried following it for a bit, but it eluded us. Nature in the middle of the city - love it!
what you lookin' atLook at what I saw up at a friend's place last year...

A robin had nested in their hanging planter. I love it! This robin was on guard whenever I was out and about. I was too interested in it. I wanted to watch her, but she didn't like it. She flew at me a couple times, so I had to take this picture from far away. It turned out okay though.

stay away! She or one of her offspring nested at their place again this year, but in a higher, more private, spot. I forgot my camera, but I was able to see her through some binoculars. This picture is another one from last year. I will try to get a picture of her this year. I take it upon myself to scare away crows and cow-birds when they get too close to the nest.
peeking through the foliageA few weeks ago I was cleaning up inside and noticed that I was being watched. We stared at each other for a minute or so and then I got back to work.

hee hee hee But the squirrel continued to watch as I scurried around moving things from one spot to another under the guise of "organizing". I would move from one window to the other and the squirrel would move around trying to keep me in its sight.

say cheeseI was intrigued that this little guy (or girl) was as interested in me as I was in him (or her). Hee hee... what a cutie. I love its little feet curled around the fence.

back to foragingAfter a few more minutes, it decided that there was more interesting stuff out there to watch and went on its way. I decided to put a walnut on the fence for it. The walnut stayed there for about a day or so. I hope this little guy got it, but the chances are probably pretty slim. We have lots of raccoons around as well.
